History and Background of the University of Hawaii Alumni Association

UHAA is an international network of alumni chapters and members whose collective goal is to advance the interests of the University of Hawaii, alumni, and friends through mutually beneficial and lifelong relationships; to generate support for the university; and to participate in events that showcase the university's excellence.

The UHAA was formally organized in 1988 as the University of Hawaii System's alumni organization representing alumni from 10 campuses throughout the islands. Since the first student graduated from UH Mānoa in 1911, more than 250,000 have joined the ranks of UH alumni.

About the UH Founders Alumni Association
In 1922, an informal University of Hawaii Alumni Association was organized on the Mānoa campus, the only University of Hawaii campus at that time. During the ensuing years, that group became the UH Founders Alumni Association, a UHAA chapter.
