Find a Mentor, Network
The UH Foundation Office of Alumni Relations (UHFAR) has several programs to help alumni and students gain information and insight when making their career decisions. Networking opportunities include a variety of programs designed to help you connect with other alums in specific careers or geographic areas. Be sure to explore other opportunities to network at chapter events in your area. We look forward to working with you. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Tips for finding a mentor:

You will be asked to make a flexible contract with your mentor, whereby you agree on the number of hours of support you will anticipate needing over a specific period of time. The number of hours you agree on will depend on the commitments of you and your mentor. When making your contract, please remember that:

Out of respect for their limited time, please have specific questions prepared in advance.
As a general rule of thumb, please always approach alumni respectfully as their time is very valuable.
We also recommend that when establishing initial contact, you do not send a template email out to all potential mentors. Rather, we suggest that you send specific, personalized emails to mentors you would like to meet.
Realize that mentors can only advise, they can't solve problems for you.

Be sure to thank mentors for their time and ask for suggestions and tips on your career search. Also, don't forget to contact us and share your experiences with us.

Recommendations for searching:
When searching for a mentor in a specific career field, enter a broad keyword like "marketing" or "advertising" first. Then, refine your search from there to find a mentor. Note: Please note that UHFAR reserves the right to ban mentoring system abusers.
