	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Cole is the former head of Ashton-Tate, the software maker that developed the pioneering dBASE program.  In addition to being the past President of Ziff Corporation, publisher of successful computer magazines, he served in various executive capacities at America Online.  Cole is Managing Partner of both Pan Pacific Ventures and Catalyst II, investment partnerships based in Hawai'i and Nevada.  He is also Director of Shiva Corporation in Bedford, Massachusetts, and the Daily Wellness Company in Los Altos, California.  Cole is a former Trustee of The Nature Conservancy of Hawai'i and actively supports the Honolulu Academy of Arts, The Contemporary Museum, Child and Family Service, Punahou School, and Hawaii Preparatory Academy. Cole received a BA in Liberal Studies from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1976.",

Dr. Helfrich established the Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology at Coconut Island as a world-leading research institute for marine biology.  His distinguished 42-year career in the marine sciences reflects his commitment and dedication to the project and the University of Hawai'i.  Dr. Helfrich received his PhD in Marine Biology from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1958. ",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Parsons is Chief Executive Officer of AOL Time Warner, Inc. As one of the most influential African Americans in American business, he has been featured in national news articles on a regular basis. He is Director of the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae), Philip Morris Companies, Citicorp, and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.  He also serves on boards of the Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and is a trustee of Howard University.  Parsons is active in community affairs -- he is vice chairman of the New York City Partnership and chairman of the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation.  He is also past member of the boards of Tri-Star Pictures, Inc., and American Television and Communications Corporation (now Time Warner Cable). While he attended the University of Hawai'i from 1964 to 1968, he did not graduate from UH, but lists his years in Hawai'i right beside his JD from Albany Law School in 1971.",

She is a well-recognized professor of world civilization on Hawai'i.  She is also supports Public Television Station, Olelo.  Dr. Peterson was also President of the Bishop Museum Council.
