	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Dr. Agbayani is the Director of Student Equity, Excellence and Diversity and is responsible for obtaining state and federal support for programs to recruit and support minority and disadvantaged students. She is past Chair of the Hawaii Civil Rights Commission and received the Alan Saunders American Civil Liberties Union Award in 1990.  Dr. Agbayani serves on the board of the Hawai'i Community Foundation, Foodbank of Hawai'i, Inter-Agency Council for Immigrant Services, Hawai'i Women's Political Caucus, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Region VI, and National Association of Asian and Pacific American Educators.  She received the Outstanding East-West Center Alumni Award, and graduated with an MA and PhD in Political Science from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1966 and 1969, respectively.  Dr. Agbayani also holds a BA in Political Science from the University of the Philippines, 1963.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Dr. Choi is the President of the Korea Foundation.  He was a faculty member at the Korean Military Academy, Korean National Defense College, and Sejong University. He was elected to the National Assembly and served in various ministerial posts. Dr. Choi distinguished himself as a true advocate of democracy in a tumultuous political era and steadfastly labored for the peaceful unification of the Korean peninsula.  He is an enthusiastic supporter of the University of Hawai'i's Korean Studies Center, and he helped secure $1 million from Korean donors to match a $2 million grant from the Korea Foundation.  Dr. Choi received a MA in American Studies in 1968 and a PhD in Political Science in 1973 from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.  He also received his BS in Civil Engineering from the Korea Military Academy in 1962 and a BA in History from Seoul National University in1966. Dr. Choi passed away on March 30, 1996.  His widow Mrs. Cho In Sook and son accepted the award on behalf of the family.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Dr. Dever is former Director of the Pacific Basin Medical Officers Training Program in Pohnpei, the Federated States of Micronesia.   He established a five-year school of medicine for Micronesia and built the classrooms, dormitories, and recreational facilities with his students.  Dr. Dever established an indigenous support system that requires sensitivity, cultural knowledge, and skill.  He is the co-founder and co-editor of the Pacific Basin Dialog, the first professional medical journal with topics related to the Pacific Basin.  He is also responsible for obtaining over $10 million in government grants for the University of Hawai'i.  Dr. Dever received an MD from the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1978.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Kosaki's exemplary service to the University of Hawai'i can be seen through his many posts as a UH administrator from 1952 to 1991. He served as Acting Chancellor from 1984-1986 at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.  He is also credited with establishing the Community College system that made quality and affordable education accessible to all students of Hawai'i.  Kosaki is currently chancellor emeritus of UH Manoa and president of Tokai International University.  He wrote the UH Master Plan with his wife Mildred.  Kosaki is past chair of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE), which established a program for sharing resources among 15 western colleges and universities.  He has also served on the Arts and Sciences Advisory Council, Hawai'i Committee for the Humanities, Education Commission of the States, and Hawai'i Educational Council.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Pi'ianai'a is deeply committed to furthering the education of native Hawaiians.  Throughout his lifetime, he worked to maintain and preserve Hawaiian and Polynesian languages, culture, and history.  Pi'ianai'a provided leadership and tutelage in pre-contact navigational skills for the Hokule'a voyages and for protocol work in meeting with other Polynesian communities.  He was appointed to the Chancellor's Advisory Committee on the Hawaiian Studies Project in 1976 and was named Director of the Hawaiian Studies Program at UH Manoa from 1978 to 1985. He also served on multiple commissions and committees related to preservation, culture, and history at local, state, and national levels. Pi'ianai'a received a BA and MA in Geography from University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1953 and 1955, respectively.");
