	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Dr. Chang was the Vice Chair of the Governor's Committee on the Status of Women from 1964-69.  She was responsible for starting the UHM School of Nursing and served on the school's advisory committee from 1966-1969.  She is a past Director of Health Manpower for the Regional Medical Program for Hawai'i and the Pacific.  Dr. Chang was recognized as a Business and Professional Women's Clubs Career Woman of the Year, KGU radio Citizen of the Day, and Honolulu Star-Bulletin Leader in Health.  She received a BS in Nursing Education in 1947 and a MPH in Public Health in 1977 from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.  She also received her RN from the Queen's Hospital School of Nursing in 1941, M Litt in Nursing Administration from University of Pittsburgh in 1950, and a PhD in Nursing Administration from Columbia Pacific University in 1987.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Dr. Goodman is a founding faculty member and director of the Women's Studies Program.  She established the Center on Aging, Geriatric Education Center and Affiliated Program in Developmental Disabilities as is past chair of the University Commission on the Status of Women. Dr. Goodman serves on the Board of the Pacific Health Research Institute and the Hawai'i State Supreme Court Disciplinary Council.  She is former Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Hawai'i and is currently the Dean of the College of Arts and Science at Vanderbilt University.  Dr. Goodman received her PhD in Genetics from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1973, a BA in Zoology from Barnard College in 1967, and a diploma in Human Biology from Oxford University in 1968.",

He helped develop Unified Market, a cultural, social, and economic center in LA's Little Tokyo, and he constructed the award-winning Japanese Village Plaza that earned a national citation from President Ronald Reagan. Hyun received a BS in Math and Physics from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1940.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Dr. In is Emeritus Dean of the College of Education at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.  He is past principal of University High School.  Dr. In helped promote U.S.-China relations through the C.K. & Soo Yong Huang Foundation and helped preserve the Chinese culture in Hawai'i through the Gee How Oak Tin Benevolent Society.  He was also elected Fellow in the China Academy of the Republic of China.  Dr. In received a BEd and Fifth-Year Diploma from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1942 and 1947, respectively. He also received a MA and PhD from New York University in 1949 and 1951, respectively. ",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Dr. Khan is a Professor at the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Hawai'i.  He formerly served as Senator and Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources in Pakistan.  He was selected as a National Academy of Sciences senior visiting scientist at Goddard Space Flight Center.  Dr. Khan also served as Vice Chair of the Hawai'i State Environmental Council.  He received a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1967 and a MS in Geology from Punjab University in 1963.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Pang is the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Force Management in the U.S. Department of Defense, which makes him the most senior Asian Pacific Islander appointee in the executive branch of U.S. government.  He is a past member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee staff.  Pang received a BEd and MBA from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1958 and 1972, respectively.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  The Honorable William S. Richardson is the second native Hawaiian to serve as Hawai'i State Chief Justice.  He served on the State Supreme Court from 1966 to 1982.  He is former Lieutenant Governor and Democratic Party of Hawai'i Central Committee chair.  Dr. Richardson is former Trustee for the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate.  In addition to being honored as a distinguished alumnus by University of Cincinnati College of Law, he was named to the Fort Benning Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame and has been honored with many other civic and professional awards.  Dr. Richardson is also the recipient of the University of Hawai'i Regent's Medal.  He received a BA from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1941, and a JD from the University of Cincinnati in 1943.",

She is single-handedly responsible for raising the consciousness of Japanese people concerning AIDS and has been referred by members of the Japanese Diet as 'the best woman in Japanese public life.'  Sakurai is active in the Foreign Correspondence Club and Japan National Press Club.  She was honored by the Society of Japanese Women in Radio and Television and the International Society for Promoting International Understanding.
